In my employment I traveled around the country for 15 years – and I was on the road 95 percent of the time. During the last five years of this experience, I needed chiropractic help and made sure I got it.

I experienced all kinds of chiropractic care and all kinds of service. There were so many different doctors in so many different towns. As you might expect, some of the care I got was good, some of it was average, and some of it was terrible. Some guys and ladies out there couldn’t get me fixed if God handed them the instructions on a billboard.

Basically, I took my chances because I had so little choice. There I would be, stuck in a motel room in a bunch of pain. It’s time to hit the yellow pages and beg for mercy. I had to take what I got. Indeed, I may have seen a greater variety of chiropractors than just about anybody. There might have been a hundred of them.

Now that I don’t have any need to travel, my life has changed dramatically. I live in Metro Denver and I work in Metro Denver. It’s a wonderful life.

Several years ago I shopped around and found a chiropractor who has been nothing less than a savior. His name is Dr. Patrick Ray, and “good” does not even come close to describing this man and his work. Remember, I’ve had a herd of practitioners to compare him with.

The difference is so dramatic, it would be like trying to compare Muhammad Ali in his prime to a bunch of kids in the Golden Gloves. Healthcare is not a funny topic, but any comparison to the others I met would still be a joke.

Just as Ali was “the greatest” (and had no trouble letting people know it), Dr. Ray is truly the greatest, as well. But one big difference between the fighter and the doctor is that I’ve never heard Dr. Ray brag even once.

How this man can remain so modest is beyond me. I try to complement him and he shrugs it off by saying something like, “Well, this is what I do all day.”

He is simply the best for so many reasons.

“Surely Dr. Ray can’t fix this particular problem,” I sometimes kid myself into thinking. But I’ve never been able to throw anything at him that he couldn’t handle. He just goes in and turns the challenge into a piece of cake.

He’s not just a genius. He cares about his patients as much as his patients care about themselves. He wants to help and always finds the way to do it. That’s the winning combination.

Oh, and one more thing. During all the years I’ve trusted his care, he’s always made sure his staff is built with his same mold of professionalism. They, also, have always been a pleasure to deal with.

Together, the team at Chiropractic Plus gets the job done and actually has a good time doing it. You see, that’s what they do all day.

My start date here at Chiropractic Plus was 6/19/2009. I have suffered with headaches, sciatica down my left leg, lower back pain, Prickly numb feeling in hands, fingers and arm, as well as occipital lobe pain. I used headache medications daily. I was born 9 weeks early to a drug addict. When I was 12 days old, I had a stroke. I now have hydrocephillia and have a shunt in my head. I went home to a foster home at age 7 weeks. My foster mom adopted me. She brought me to Dr Ray when I was 12 months old. I could not crawl and drug my left side. After my first adjustment, I started crawling. At 14 months old, I walked. With my adjustments and therapy, I have accomplished much. I read at college level. I am in regular classes and do most things other people can do. As a small child I didn’t have many ear infections. My shunt was only changed once. Most kids have theirs changed many times. My hobbies are video games and reading. Without Dr Ray I know I wouldn’t be doing things that I can.

Dennise Herder has been a patient with Chiropractic Plus since a day in 1992 when Dr. Ray introduced himself to her at her own front door. Dr. Ray opened his practice in the Thornton area so was knocking on doors in the local neighborhoods to invite new patients to his practice. Dennise presented to the office and received X-Rays which showed severe subluxation causing pinched nerves. Here is her story:

“I started with Dr. Ray in 1992. I was in a wheel-chair at that time and could barely walk. I was taking 12 different medications (DRUGS), which we all know are not good for you, and was headed down hill. For the first year, I saw Dr. Ray two (2) times a day. The second year, I was down to seeing Dr. Ray one (1) time a day. Sometime after the first year, Dr Ray had me out of my wheel-chair and I was walking with arm crutches. By the end of the third year, Dr. Ray had me off of the 12 medications, out of the wheel-chair, off the arm crutches and walking with nothing but my legs and feet.

Sixteen years later and it is 2008. I am still on the go walking and enjoying life. Dr. Ray and Chiropractic Plus are the key to Life, Wellness, and Happiness. Without Chiropractic care, I do not think I would be alive today.

I hurt my knee bowling. (Of all things!) It really swelled up and I had a hard time walking – especially up stairs and bending at all! My coworkers said I should probably take something and have it scoped. I waited a few days – scared of telling Dr. Ray because I thought the pain of “adjusting” it would be too much. So I iced it and hoped for the best. After 3 days I finally told Dr. Ray what I did and he said “No problem – I had a girl on my volleyball team that was complaining of the same thing and I fixed her right up and she played that same day.” So I got on the table expecting “PAIN” and before I even knew it, Dr. Ray had adjusted my knee. NO PAIN INVOLVED! I stood up with no problems and was even able to bend my knee without any pain!

I knew I had a problem and it was going to take a long time and money. My back has been in pain for four years. Mainly due to football injuries. My neck was nearly curving the wrong way. On the fourth week of care my pain was gone and I had more energy to do things.

My scoliosis is now from 11 degrees to 5 degrees. To date I take no medications for my back pain (I took four Ibuprofen a day or more in the past!) and take no allergy medicine. I have also lost a considerable amount of weight which is still coming off!

On January 29, 2004, I herniated the disc between L5-S1 vertebrae just by sneezing three times. In an instant life as I knew was over. My back locked up and I began to feel numbness in my right calf and foot. I was screaming when I finally made it to the emergency room. I was given pain pills and muscle relaxers to mask the pain, and was told that my spine was fine.

In May of 2004 x-rays showed incredible degeneration and damage. My spine literally looked like a question mark and I was only 30!!

I have no more allergies, no more sinusitis, no more bronchitis, no more migraines, nor more digestive problems, no more menstrual problems, no more insomnia, my hair quit falling out, and my pain levels have dramatically decreased. Some days, I have no pain at all! I have been delivered from depression, no longer have an eating disorder, and have lost over forty pounds and am still losing. My life has been truly transformed. And through all of this, I have discovered my purpose, my passion, and my destiny. I have discovered who I am.
